Academic Integrity Survey Project

Overview

Washington State University is participating in the McCabe–ICAI Academic Integrity Surveys to better understand perceptions, experiences, and campus climate related to academic integrity. This initiative includes both a faculty survey and a student survey and is a shared effort between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.

The survey results will help WSU better understand how academic integrity is experienced across our campuses and identify opportunities to strengthen communication, policy, support, and institutional practice. Participating institutions receive benchmarking data, a summary of findings, and anonymized raw data to support assessment and planning.

Why this matters

Academic integrity is a foundation of teaching, learning, and scholarship. It shapes how students learn, how faculty assess learning, and how the university fosters trust in the academic experience.

This project is intended to help WSU:

  • better understand faculty and student perspectives on academic integrity

  • identify areas where expectations may be unclear

  • inform future conversations about policy, communication, and support

  • strengthen a culture of integrity across learning environments

Project timeline

Planning and coordination

WSU coordinated this initiative through Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, with survey administration planning completed in advance of distribution. The study has already been reviewed, and WSU IRB determined that it falls under exempt status.

Survey launch

Survey invitations will be distributed to faculty and students by email.

Survey period

The Faculty survey will remain open through April 17. The Student survey will remain open through April 23.

Data review and reporting

After the survey closes, WSU will receive an executive summary, benchmark information, and anonymized raw data files for institutional review and assessment use.

Survey findings will help inform future discussions about academic integrity at WSU, including possible opportunities to improve guidance, communication, support resources, and related institutional practices.
