Student Services Advisor

This position serves as a primary contact for the Office of the Dean of Students with Global Campus students, faculty and staff and Global Campus student issues. The Professional Worker will interact with WSU faculty, staff, and students on issues, needs and concerns; responds to emergency and crisis situations that affect students and the educational environment.  20 hours per week.

• Serve as an initial point of contact for students in resolving complex issues which impact students’ academic and personal success
• Advise and empower students to take full advantage of WSU resources and opportunities with the objective of developing self-authorship and autonomy
• Advise students, faculty, staff and parents regarding rules, policies, practices and procedures most efficiently, including providing strong, comprehensive information resources for students
• Coordinate and advise students in managing their financial and financial aid challenges. Coordinate with faculty and staff on student financial matters
• Consult with students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and outside agencies as appropriate regarding student support
• Prepare correspondence and schedule appointments and follow up
• Prepare and update documentation and case files in the database
• Monitors Global Campus AWARE reports, initiating coordination of follow up when appropriate
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Human Development, Criminal Justice or related field OR equivalent experience
• Two years of progressively responsible in a field related to working with student services
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis
• Computer knowledge, including proficiency with Windows based computer system and Microsoft applications
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong human relation skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in high stress and conflict situations
• Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in higher education

Compensation:   Wage rates $20.00 / hr
